Is everyone on your game team heading in the same direction?
Can you prove it?
Game Vision Alignment Check Workshop
The number one predictor of a successful team is ensuring that everyone on the team is aligned on their game's vision. Yet to date, there has been no reliable way to actually check this.
I created the Game Vision Alignment Check to offer a robust way to determine if the whole team are heading in the same direction, and if they are not, help put them back on track.
Workshop Purpose
To align your team on their game's vision. This is the most important factor present in successful teams. Without a single shared vision, your team are unlikely to achieve their goal.
When Should We Check The Team’s Alignment?
A team’s alignment on their game’s vision can be checked at any point in development, from as soon as there is an idea or concept (pre-design), through to games which have been released but still being worked on (DLC, live games etc).
Team alignment is also intended to be iterative, even if your team were aligned at one point in time, it does not mean there are aligned today. Drift is natural and unavoidable, it needs kept in check.
Workshop Outline
This is a 1/2 day workshop.
Introduction - The science of why team alignment on a shared vision is critical to project success. Approx 20 mins.
Exercise - Game Vision Alignment Check - I step the team through completing the Vision Alignment Template. Approx 30 mins.
Discussion - Discussion of the results, identifying precisely where team misalignment is occurring and why. Approx 1-2 hours.
Alignment - Leveraging the results and discussion to create a single shared vision of your game. Approx 1 hour.
Format: Remote video (Zoom/Hangouts/Teams etc), or on-site.
Who Should Attend?
This is for everyone on the team. One of the main factors in successful teams is that everyone is aligned on the vision, no matter the role. Having said that, it's critically important that any team members in charge of creating or communicating the game's vision are present.
Up to a maximum of 20 people can participate.
