An organisational psychologist in the
video games industry

I help video games teams and studios align on a clear destination. I have created a series of workshops which help teams align on the past, present, and future, working together to enhance a team’s potential for success.

Game Alignment Workshops

Game Vision Alignment Workshop - Aligning on the Future

Where are we going? Does everyone on the team align on that? Can we prove we’re all aligned? To address these issues, I created the Game Vision Alignment Check, a robust way of checking how well teams are aligned on their game’s vision. Vision alignment is the number one predictor of a team’s success, yet to date there has been no reliable way to actually check if a team is aligned.

Player Experience Alignment Workshop - Aligning on the Present

Once the vision is set, the team will want a measure of how close they are to achieving it as development progresses. Team playtesting is where the team play their own game and assess the player experience using a structured Player Experience Questionnaire (PEQ), which we will create in this workshop. The PEQ drives discussion among the team (knowledge sharing), leading to alignment on the current player experience, and in turn, action on what needs addressed most.

After-Action Review Workshop - Aligning on the Past

Teams often try to learn from the past by doing post-mortems, however research shows that the methods typically used are not effective. This workshop uses a proven structure to help teams align on the past, which in turn improves their future decision-making ability and drives organisational learning.

Studio Alignment Workshop

Alignment issues also impact the studio’s direction, this workshop is aimed at studio leadership.

Studio Vision Alignment Workshop - Alignment for Leadership

Most games studios have a vision statement, a motivating description of where they want to be in 5-10 years. It is the function of studio leadership to steer the company to this destination, but is each person on the leadership team interpreting the vision statement in the same way?
